Welcome,
My name is Bill Andree and I am the General Manager of Volvo of Nashville. I have
40 years of automobile experience and would like to share with you the ins and outs
of the Volvo Certified Pre Owned Program from here forward a CPO.
- A Volvo CPO vehicle must have a clean title (no salvage, lemon law, or water issues), however, can have had minor accident damage. Many consumers think a clean “Carfax” guarantees the vehicle has never been involved in an accident, not true. Many people pay damages out their pocket or trade their vehicles before damage can be reported to avoid a “Carfax Report” reflecting an accident. Which in some cases could be as minor as a parking lot incident.
- A Volvo CPO has been inspected by the dealer to insure that all major components are in good working order and should have no major issues at the time of sale.
- A CPO’s life is calculated 6 years and 100,000 miles from the original new car in service date.
- A CPO is put into the Volvo national system and is automatically seen and honored by all Volvo dealers in the U.S. (not Canada).
- A CPO has no deductibles and is generally much more comprehensive than “Service Contracts” and is backed by the manufacturer not an independent re-insurance company.
- A CPO is included in the purchase price of your pre owned vehicle.
- A CPO contract is presented to you at the time of delivery with all terms and conditions.
- A CPO is generally much less expensive than a “Service Contract”, as it is part of the sale price of the vehicle, and may only be acquired at the time of purchase. “Service Contracts” may be acquired after the purchase of vehicles.
- Only frachised Volvo dealers may sell a "Certified Pre Owned" vehicle. Independent used lots only sell "Service Contracts"; which in many cases are not nearly as comprehensive or as "turnkey" as a CPO.
- CPO’s are not a good idea if the in service date of the vehicle is over 5 years old as this will leave you with less than 1 year coverage. In this case a “Service Contract” would be the wise choice as it begins at the time of and mileage at purchase.
